Your history deserves clear answers.
Whether you are bringing a month of transactions or years of financial history, you should know where it goes, who can access it and what happens when you want to leave.
Before you bring anything over
- Your records use encrypted cloud storage. Firstfruits is not an offline or end-to-end encrypted vault.
- Transaction history is shared with members of your household. Tax files are available to the adults in your household.
- Basic CSV import does not use AI. AI features can send relevant financial details to our AI provider.
- You can start with a small export and keep your original backup. You do not need to move your entire history at once.
Importing your history
Coming from Quicken? The current transaction importer accepts CSV files, not native Quicken QDF, QFX or QIF files. Check that your export has the dates, amounts and payees you want to bring over, and review a small sample first.
Clicking Preview sends your CSV to Firstfruits for processing. Transactions are saved only after you confirm the import. We save the imported records and import details such as the filename and your column mappings; the original CSV is not saved as a document in your account.
Keep your original Quicken file or other backup. A transaction import does not replace a complete archive of your accounts, attachments or investment history.
Storage & access
Firstfruits runs on Vercel, uses Neon for financial records and Clerk for sign-in. Connections to the site use HTTPS. Neon encrypts stored records and database connections; Vercel Blob encrypts stored tax files. Read the providers’ descriptions of Neon security and Vercel file security.
The app checks your sign-in and household membership before allowing access to household financial records. Members of the same household share transaction history. An account’s Owner label describes ownership; it does not make those transactions private from other household members.
Encryption does not mean only you can decrypt the data. Firstfruits and the services that run it process readable data to provide the app. These controls are not a claim that Firstfruits itself has a SOC 2 certification or an independent security audit.
AI & your data
Basic CSV preview and import do not call an AI service. If you use AI chat or category suggestions, relevant financial information can be sent to Anthropic, our AI provider. Depending on the feature, that can include your message, payees, dates, amounts, notes, categories and household summaries.
Amazon import is different: its preview uses AI to help categorize matched purchases, sending item details such as titles, categories and prices before you confirm the import.
Do not put passwords, bank login credentials or full Social Security numbers in chat or transaction notes.
Tax documents & CPA sharing
Tax files use private Vercel Blob storage, not public download links. Firstfruits checks access before serving a file. All adults in your household can access these documents; a document’s Owner label does not limit access.
You choose a CPA recipient and review the package before sharing. The recipient must sign in with the verified email you selected. Packages expire 7, 14 or 30 days after creation, and you can revoke access sooner. The email contains a link, not document attachments. Revoking access cannot recall copies someone already downloaded.
Uploads are checked for file type and size, but are not scanned for malware. Only upload files you trust. Files are not end-to-end encrypted.
Removing a reminder or clearing a filing record keeps its files. Earlier file versions remain available. Permanent file deletion and automatic deletion after a set period are not currently available in the tax organizer.
Export & deletion
You can export transactions as CSV from Transactions. Keep an independent copy of records you need for your own archive or tax filing.
Delete imports removes imported CSV transactions and their import records. Categories, remembered rules and audit history remain. This is not a complete erasure of your household or every copy held in backups.
